A lot of folk will have read and or seen the movie "We of The Never Never", well this is where it was 
Where Elsey Homestead was. This is a recreation of it.
Can you imagine using furniture like this?
There was a seperate cooking area
The main Homestead is still there but it's not done up at all. They have a motel and caravan park there also because that is were the Mataranka Springs are.
We walked to them & I was disappointed we hadn't gone there yesterday because I think I could have got into the water there. It is sooooo beautiful 
There is a restaurant there also with interesting murals
The town of Mataranka is mostly Abotiginal and around lunch time a number were having their lunch in the park
Their tents and 'humptys' were in the bushes behind the park.
The park has a huge Termite mound
As well as figures from 'We of the never never
We had a lovely afternoon talking to neighbours, sharing trips and hearing their stories.
Our list of caravanning friends is growing and they are such interesting folk.
