16th June. Darwin.

What a magical day we had yesterday.
We caught the Around Darwin Hop-on-hop-off Double Decker Bus. $30 each for a 24 hour pass. We made the most of it...... First time around we only had a 2 hour car park, so it was an orientation trip, then we drove to the Museum where parking was free and we absorbed as much as possible of Cyclone Tracy 1974. Oh the devastation. We had lunch there then caught the bus again & on to THE war Museum. Both of these precincts are a highlight for our generation, our grandchildren may be told about it if they have any connection to it.
The War Museum.
Some of the beautiful scenery of Darwin, with its water and palms.
One of the 3 original homes that withstood the Cyclone & Bombing.
The harbour. It is now a Cyclone haven.
The drive between the two museums (from the top of the double decker bus front seat!)
To prove we were on the bus.
We completed the round trip back to our car passing again The Christchurch Cathedral. It has been bombed and cyclone battered but now is beautiful once again.
It was truely a magical day which we thoroughly enjoyed.
